Inspired by traditional Sashiko mending and bold, creative patchwork, I started Sassafras Mending in 2023 with a mission to keep clothing out of the waste stream. Sassafras specializes in artistic visible mending and takes local commissions for all kinds of work in that area, from embellishment to patches in fabric and knitted mediums. I also make new clothes out of old clothes (upcycling) by commission, using clothing scraps and textiles that need a new life! My mission is to inspire people to use their creativity to reduce textile waste.
